Yujin Yaguchi: Remembering the Attack: Teaching Pearl Harbor in Japan
December 5, 12:00pm - 1:30pmManoa Campus, Burns Hall Room 2118
This presentation will focus on the summer workshop on the Pearl Harbor attack for the Japanese and American secondary school teachers, held every summer at the East West Center. In particular, it discusses the experience of Japanese teachers--difficulties they face and meanings they find in this week-long workshop. The presentation will pay attention to both theoretical and practical challenges of the workshop and explore ways in which how cultural studies critiques may be (or not be) useful in a day-to-day educational setting.
