School of Architecture Spring Lecture Series: Peter Sigrist
February 15, 5:00pm - 8:00pmManoa Campus, Architecture Building
Pascal Müller and Peter Sigrist studied both at the ETH Zurich in Switzerland. After receiving their Diploma in 1998 they worked for the renowned offices Herzog & de Meuron and Gigon & Guyer. In 2001 they founded their own office Muller Sigrist Architects in Zurich. Since then they participated on a large number of competitions, several of the projects were awarded prizes. Since 2007 the office has grown with a third partner, Samuel Thoma, and houses about dozen employees at present. Their work spans from a single family house over public buildings to large dwelling structures. Two public buildings, community halls, in Switzerland have been completed and internationally published. Further more, the office is working on projects for a large alpine development in Andermatt, Switzerland. Their office can be viewed as a typical young architecture studio in central Europe. Their approaches come from a profound analysis of the program, the site, and the aim to design houses with a strong character. They do not search for a certain "style" in their work but rather to design buildings which react to each situation and develop specific themes which lead to a individual architectural expression. The lecture on Feb 15th will highlight and explore Müller Sigrist’s recent work.
Also, School of Architecture presents an exhibition of Peter Sigrist's work. Gallery hours are 9am - 4pm (will be open later on 15FEB due to exhibit reception and lecture).
*All lectures are free and open to the public and take place in Architecture Auditorium 205. lecturers begin at 5pm, seating is limited & early arrival is recommended. Lectures are followed by a short Q & A session and an informal reception in the courtyard of the Architecture building.
