School of Architecture Spring Lecture Series: Michael Everts

Michael Everts is recognized as a creative innovator in design and education. Mr. Everts is a practicing architect and Assistant Professor of Architecture at Montana State University. He won the prestigious national 2006 NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) Grand Prize of $25,000 for his integration of practice and education in the Professional Practice course he teaches. In 2004, he won the national ACSA (Association of Schools of Architecture) Collaborative Practice award for a process of design that integrated 4th year design studio students and residents of Conrad, MT in the design of a youth baseball complex. Previous to MSU, Michael practiced architecture in Chicago for ten years as an associate with Valeio Dewalt Train and Associates where he received numerous design awards for building, interior and detail design. Mr. Everts will present his work with (net)work assemblies of Practitioners, Students, Clients, Specialists, Service Groups, Administrators, and Communities to “tease out” new PERFORMATIVE spatial and non-spatial architectural designs.

** All lectures are free and open to the public and take place in Architecture Auditorium 205 on University of Hawaii at Manoa campus, 2410 Campus Rd, Honolulu, HI. Lectures begin at 5pm, seating is limited & early arrival is recommended. Lectures are followed by a short Q & A session and an informal reception in the courtyard of the Architecture building.
