Top Physics: A Window To The Terascale
March 3, 3:45pm - 5:30pmManoa Campus, Watanabe Hall, Rm. 420
Special Physics Colloquium presented by the Department of Physics and Astronomy Colloquium: Dr. Alexander Mitov, DESY, Germany, to speak on "Top Physics: A Window To The Terascale."
Abstract:
The unprecedented experimental conditions that will be achieved at the Large Hadron Collider will result in abundant production of elementary particles over a vast kinematical range. Our expectations are that this particle accelerator will be able to establish a new frontier in fundamental physics.
I will present state-of-the-art theoretical developments and future prospects for precision studies of collider observables. Particular emphasis will be placed on the top quark due to its special place in searches for the Higgs boson and New Physics as well as in precision measurements of fundamental parameters such as the top mass.
