"Corporate Rescue in China: Developing Effective Insolvency Infrastructures"
In recent years, the Chinese government has prioritized the goal of revitalizing the SOE (state-owned enterprise), corporate and banking sectors in China. One critical effort has been the creation of a new bankruptcy law and the development of asset management companies (AMCs) in order to disperse non-performing loans (NPLs). In the aftermath of the Asian financial crisis, have these attempts at corporate rescue and reform been successful?
