Belly Dance I
March 12, 2008 - April 16, 2008Manoa Campus, Hemenway 101
Learn the ancient art of Middle Eastern Belly Dancing, both Egyptian and Turkish styles. This aerobic dance will build muscle tone, improve posture, build self-esteem, and it is FUN! You will learn body movement isolations, step combinations, shimmies, general technique, and veil work. Bring a scarf to wrap around your hips. You will also need a 2 and 3/4 to 3 yards long veil for the second class and a full skirt.
Cultural education includes dance movements from Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, North Africa and the first time this summer, an introduction to American Tribal. Cost per session: $45 UH Student, Faculty and Staff $50 Community/Guest Room: Hemenway Hall 201
