Asian Studies Talk: Art of Bhutan

"Buddhist Art of Western Bhutan in the Seventeenth Century" by John Johnston, associate curator of the Bhutan Exhibition, Honolulu Academy of Art.
The 17th Century as a decisive period marks the nation's unification. It is also remarkable for achievements in the arts, particularly regarding its painting and sculpture traditions. It will be a fully illustrated art historical presentation, referencing the curatorial background related to the current exhibition.
John Johnston is a UHM alumnus whose graduate thesis was on the art of Asia.
