U.S. Pacific nuclear weapons testing and the press lecture

Journalism Professor Beverly Keever will discuss The Origins, Aftermath and Translation of "News Zero: The New York Times and The Bomb."
This book by her is now being translated into Japanese by a publisher in Tokyo. The volume discusses how The New York Times aided U.S. government secrecy and deception in obscuring the adverse health and environmetal impact of radiation and radioactivity emanating from the yield of 86 Pacific nuclear weapons tests from 1946-1962 and the under-reporting of the lingering legacy of those tests that equated to the detonation of 8,580 Hiroshima-size bombs over those 16 years--or l.4 per day.Ticket Information
