Energy Alternatives in Hawai‘i

October 29, 1:30pm - 2:30pm
Windward Campus, Science Complex, Hale ‘Imiloa 111

On Wednesday, October 29 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Windward Community College and co-sponsors American Chemical Society-Hawai‘i Section, VWR International and INBRE will host Energy Alternatives in Hawai‘i, presented by Engr. Maria Tome, a licensed professional engineer with the Hawai‘i State Energy Office.

In this forum Tome will discuss how Hawai‘i's energy future might look different from today's fossil-fueled system. Participants will hear about some of the technologies, policies and choices that will allow renewable sources of energy—solar, wind, ocean, geothermal, biomass—to power Hawai‘i's economy in the not so distant future. Examples of how renewable sources of energy, and energy efficiency, are making a difference for residents and businesses today will be shown.

Participants in this forum will gain a greater appreciation of the magnitude of our energy resources and the challenges that face us.
