Tango, Taro, and Taco Bell
February 6, 10:00pm - 11:00pmOng King Arts Center 1848 N. King
How do the icons and mythologies of Latino identity translate to 21st-century Hawai‘i? With humor, attitude and a little salsa caliente the UH Teatro Latino provides the answers as it takes an irreverent look at Latino life on Oahu. Tango dancers and Argentine comic book star Mafalda, who now speaks pidgin, set the stage for “The Return of Che-Local Style”, a Latino spoof of October 2008, in which national politics, the state of Mexican food in Honolulu, and the floundering UH football team all meet up with a dead revolutionary.
