Asia Pacific in the News
April 2, 4:30pm - 6:00pmManoa Campus, Center for Korean Studies
The School of Pacific and Asian Studies (SPAS) is launching a program called “Asia Pacific in the News.” There are many events occurring throughout Asia and the Pacific that beg for further clarification and understanding. Given the wealth of internationally renowned specialists on the Manoa campus who are truly experts in these areas, SPAS wants to give the student body and local community opportunities to hear from these scholars as they discuss current events in the regions. SPAS will sponsor these informational presentation periodically throughout the academic year and aims to provide timely insights into newsworthy events in Asia and the Pacific.
The inaugural presentation, titled “The Impact of the Economic Crisis on Asia and the Pacific,” will be held on Thursday, April 2 at 4:30 PM at the Center for Korean Studies. It will bring together a panel of six UHM scholars who will discuss how Asia and the Pacific are responding to the current economic turmoil. Students, faculty and community members are welcome.
