Common Problems in Buildings Lecture

The School of Architecture at UH Manoa invites you to attend a special lecture entitled, Common Problems in Buildings: How Architects Can Avoid Them, on Friday, April 24th at 5 pm in the School of Architecture Auditorium. The common causes of failures in buildings, tunnels, and bridges include inadequate design, improper construction, unanticipated conditions, and deterioration of materials. In this lecture, Ian Chin, Vice President and Principal of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, will present case studies of failed structures and their causes. This lecture is free and open to the public and qualifies for one hour of continuing education credit in both Health Safety & Welfare and Sustainable Design.
After the lecture, please join us for a fundraising event for the School of Architecture Alumni Association Scholarship Fund at Amuse, the wine bar located in the Honolulu Design Center at 1250 Kapiolani Blvd. Call 956-3469 for additional information.
