UH Army ROTC Commissioning
May 17, 6:00pm - 8:30amManoa Campus, Kennedy Theater
On May 17th at 6pm at the Kennedy Theater on the UH Manoa campus, the University of Hawaii at Manoa Army ROTC will conduct a Commissioning Ceremony for 25 graduates of the Army ROTC program. Keynote speaker is LTG Benjamin R. Mixon, Commanding General, U.S. Army Pacific.
Unique to this year's ceremony is the presentation of the Silver Star by LTG Mixon to the family of 1LT Jonathan Brostrom, Class of 2006, Chosen Company, 2/503 Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, killed in action in Wanat, Afghanistan, 13 July 2008.
Other presentations include the annual 'Warrior of Manoa' award to the top graduating Senior, Natalia Cardona, by Mr Allen Hoe, CASA West Oahu; Distinguished Military Graduate certificates to the 7 Cadets achieving a standard of top 20% in the nation amongst over 5000 cadets by LTG Mixon; and the State of Hawaii Governor's recognition for all graduating Seniors by MG Robert Lee, Adjutant General, State of Hawaii.
During this year's ceremony, we will Commission 25 2LTs into our Army with a swearing in, pinning of rank and first Salute from an Enlisted member of our Army. Please come and join us in a celebration of the Army's newest 2LTs and recognition of a Warrior Leader whom we will never forget.
