Real & Relevant Green Building by Design
December 1, 2009 - December 4, 2009Manoa Campus, School of Architecture
The green building movement is here to stay, and architects have the best education and experience to lead the way toward creating smarter buildings and developments. Peter Pfeiffer, founding principal of Barley + Pfeiffer Architects, a firm recognized nationally for its pioneering use of environmentally responsive building design and construction techniques, will present Leadership in Green Building – by Design: Connecting the dots between high performance design & appropriate "vetted out" green building strategies in a special lecture at the School of Architecture on Friday, December 4th at 5 pm. The complexity of how various design decisions and building components interact with each other to effect occupant health & comfort; building durability & maintenance; conservation of natural resources; waste management; water conservation; energy efficiency - including US energy independence and global warming, will be addressed in an enlightening format. A reception with light pupus and refreshments will follow. This event is free and open to the public and qualifies for 1.5 Health and Social Welfare continuing education units.
