Brazilian Capoeira

April 1, 2010 - June 3, 2010
Windward Campus, Hale Kuhina 115

Capoeira is a combination of martial arts, dance, gymnastics and music. It was created by the Brazilian slaves more than 400 years ago. One does not need to be particularly fit, flexible or have any background in martial arts or dance to participate in the class. The class is suitable for beginners, and students who have experience in capoeira, dance, martial arts, or other art forms. Learn to identify 3 most common capoeira rhythms as they are played using the main instruments of the art: Berimbau, pandeiro (tambourine), and atabaque (drum).
