First Master Gardener Statewide Conference

UH Mānoa’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) will host an inaugural Master Gardener Statewide Conference, “Growing Together in Hawai‘i,” from Friday to Sunday, October 15-17, at the Ala Moana Hotel. 

The conference agenda includes specialized field trips to UH Mānoa’s Lyon Arboretum, CTAHR’s Waimānalo Research Field Station, local nurseries, Waianu Farm in Kāne‘ohe, Windward Community College’s plant biotechnology program and bioprocessing medicinal garden, and Leeward Community College’s Native Hawaiian Botanical Collection and Shade House Propagation Center.

Also offered will be campus plant tours and networking opportunities at UH Mānoa and Kamehameha Schools Kapalama.

Topics of featured educational sessions will include Native Hawaiian plants, organic gardening, diseases and insects, aquaponics, and growing tropical fruits and nuts in Hawai‘i.
