Manoa Bollywood Evenings: 'Billu Barber' (2009)

October 18, 4:30pm - 7:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Pacific Ocean Science & Technology (POST) 127

Billu (Irrfan Khan, from 'Slumdog Millionaire') is an simple man living in rural India, a barber who supports his (mostly) loving family and regularly interacts with his (mostly) decent fellow townspeople. Into this rustic existence parachutes none other than Bollywood superstar Sahir Khan (megastar Shah Rukh Khan, basically playing himself), who chose Billu's village as the location for his next film shoot (which includes some hilariously wild song & dance sequences involving SRK, light sabers, and a bevy of Bollywood starlets). When the rumor goes around that Billu was Sahir's childhood friend, the village is thrown into tumult as ordinary folks struggle to define what is 'greatness.'
