WAC Summer Institute

Paired with assessment workshops, the WAC (Writing Across the Curriculum) Summer Institute runs from August 01 through August 15th 2011 at Kapi'olani Community College. Each session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday. Content typically covered during the Institute is as follows: using writing as a tool for thinking and learning; preparing to teach a W.I. course; gaining confidence, voice, and practice in your own personal writing; exploring effective approaches to teaching and learning; applying visual rhetoric to your coursework; scaffolding assignments in a logical and practical sequence; dealing with the W.I. course workload. During the assessment institute, SLO’s, backwards design, and general course and program-level assessment techniques will be covered.

The registration deadline is as follows: March 18th, 2011 . Kapi’olani. faculty will be accorded a stipend; faculty from other campuses will need to make arrangements with their home campus.
