The Hawaii Center for AIDS intends to apply to the National Institute of Health for a Developmental Center for AIDS Research (D-CFAR) grant. If funded, this grant will provide infrastructure support to the University to strengthen its capacity for HIV/AIDS research. Specifically, the D-CFAR will provide funds for pilot projects, foster scientific communications and develop new areas of HIV research, sponsor training and educational opportunities, and make available clinical (access to human specimens and patients) and laboratory resources/assays to researchers as core resources.
