All About Turmeric

Turmeric, also known as olena, has been used as a flavorful addition in Southern Asia and Middle Eastern cuisines, as the distinctive flavor base of many curries and other traditional dishes. Current research is also looking at the health benefits of turmeric when included in the diet.
Cassandra de Kramer will demonstrate several delicious recipes using turmeric as she discusses the benefits in everyday cooking. Propagation, harvesting, storing and drying will be discussed, and each student will receive turmeric root, powder and a recipe booklet.
Class fee $25. registration required.
