Update on the Mission, Progress and Issues Facing the Honolulu Board of Water Supply

Ernest Y.W. Lau P.E. Manager and Chief Engineer, Honolulu Board of Water Supply

Abstract:

This year, Ernest Lau became the new Manager and Chief Engineer of Honolulu Board of Water Supply (HBWS). To the residents of Oahu, the HBWS is one of the most important agency in the state because it provides water for drinking and many other uses to most of the residents and businesses on Oahu. The activities related to quality and quantity of water, cost of water as well as breaks in water lines are often in the news. Ernest Lau has held significant previous positions in the state of Hawaii, as Administrator of the Public Works Division under the State Department of Accounting and General Services and as Deputy Director of the State Commission on Water Resource Management, DLNR. Moreover, he previously served as Manager and Chief Engineer of Kauai Department of Water. He will provide a seminar on the mission, the projects and many issues related to managing the Honolulu Board of Water Supply.
