John Lim Memorial Costume Contest: At the first Landshark Invitational, the late ICA Justice John Lim surfed in a suit and tie and carried a briefcase (he lost the briefcase). In his honor, a prize(s) will be awarded to the surfer(s) with the best costume - entrants in this category must catch at least one wave in costume during the heat. Be creative! The 2007, 2009, and 2010 winner Greg Lui-Kwan dressed as the Superferry, a tuxedoed Landshark, and Sponge Bob. 2011 upset winner Jeff Kent came as Aquaman (recovering from a humiliating showing the year before as a Spam Musubi that left a trail of Styrofoam marine debris). Judging criteria: 95% costume/accessories, 5% surfing (must catch at least one wave in costume). Costumes leaving marine debris will be disqualified in honor of Jeff.
