Food (+ Do It Yourself)

October 12, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Ka Papa Lo'i o Kanewai

How can individual actions make an impact on the huge problems in our food systems? How can we students empower ourselves through simple "do-it-yourself" actions? How do these individual actions relate and connect to larger community actions? Our speakers bring together a wealth of knowledge and experience as students, farmers, policy advocates, and community organizers. We hope you can join us for this multivocal call to action.

Speakers:
Z. 'Aki (Makawalu)
Lisa Asagi (Co-founder of GreenWheel Food Hub)
Summer Maunakea (Ka Papa Lo‘i o Kānewai)
Gabe Sachter-Smith (CTAHR, Student Organic Farm Training)

Food (+)
A monthly interdisciplinary series on food. Our October talk story session highlights the importance of DIY and community-driven projects. We hope to build knowledge of all the work UHM students are already engaged in, connect the campus to the community, and increase dialogue among all fields of study.

This event is made possible with the support of the Graduate Student Organization.
