Colleges-Against-Cancer's Committee Interest Meeting
October 24, 6:30pm - 7:30pmMānoa Campus, Hemingway 211
Come learn about Relay For Life and apply to be on our planning committee!
Have you or has someone you love been affected by cancer? Take action against the disease!
One in three women and one in two men are diagnosed with cancer. If it hasn’t already, it will affect you or someone you know. Although seemingly daunting, there is something that YOU can do…
The Colleges Against Cancer RIO invites you to join us in our passionate fight against the disease. This year we will be hosting our 8th Annual Relay for Life event on April 12, 2013 and we want YOU to participate!
Whether you’re a new or veteran relay-er, we would like to offer all students, faculty, staff, alumni, family and community members a chance to join our award-winning planning committee! Last year, our committee led our relay to win first place in our school’s population bracket. With everyone’s hard work and cooperation, thousands of participants showed up to our event and we were able to fundraise about $75,000, over $30k more than our goal!
We need your help to keep this trend going and to make UH a leader in the fight against cancer!
Our Relay For Life of UHM is a part of a movement of over 500 universities that have come together to save lives. All of our events exist to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through, research, education, advocacy and service.
To participate, teams of friends, families, classmates, coworkers, clubs and organizations sign up, spread awareness and fundraise as much money as they can for the war against cancer! All of our efforts are culminated on that Friday, April 12th at T.C. Ching Field where we host a party to celebrate, remember, and fight back together! The event consists of an overnight walk around the track, teams camping out on the field, great food, competitive games and tons of entertainment!
The more help and innovative ideas we get, the more we can build our event up, therefore educating more people, providing more services to patients in Hawai’i and fundraising more money for cancer research! There are many positions that vary in tasks and time commitment to suit your interests. Applications are out now! Please look through the links below and follow the instructions to apply.
To complete your application, we ask that you attend our first committe meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, OCTOBER 24th AT 6:30 PM IN Hemingway 211. Free food and more information about Relay will be available!
The journey towards ending cancer begins with a single step. Will you take it? Join our fight against the disease and make a difference.
