Seminar in Asian Studies

UH will be hosting a jointly sponsored Asian Studies lecture by Jordan Sand, Associate Professor of Japanese History and Culture at Georgetown University.

In his talk, entitled "Tokyo as an Imperial Capital," Dr. Sand will explore how Japan's status as a colonial empire in the first half of the 20th century manifested itself in the metropolitan city by focusing on urban monuments, tourism, and everyday aspects of modernity.
