Designer Michael Sorkin Lecture

Designer and Urban Planner Michael Sorkin is the Distinguished Professor of Architecture and Director of the Graduate Program in Urban Design at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at CCNY.
Sorkin is best known for his numerous urban planning projects specializing in ecological corridors along waterways and waterfront areas in China, Turkey, New York, Cleveland, Sydney, and Hong Kong.
He has also authored many books including Starting From Zero: Reconstructing Downtown New York (2003), Indefensible Space (2007) and All Over the Map (2010), which address the role of architecture, design, and urban development in our global and post-9/11 world.
His visit is held in conjunction with Geographics: Design, Education, and the Transnational Terrain, a professional international design conference hosted by the AIGA, UH Manoa, Parsons the New School for Design, and Adobe Systems (among others).
