Native Hawaiian Student Scholar Brown Bag Event with Kauanoe Kamanā

Attend the Native Hawaiian Student Scholar Brown Bag event on Friday, January 25th from 12:00-2:30pm at Hālau o Haumea at Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies (UH Mānoa).

Guests may park in the Hawaiian Studies parking structure. Lunch will be provided at 12:00pm.

This event will highlight the research work of Dr. Kauanoe Kamanā, a 2009-2010 doctoral Kohala Mellon-Hawaiʻi Fellow.

The presentation will be conducted in Hawaiian. All language levels are encouraged to attend. Come listen to the mother tongue of Hawaiʻi.

The following is her research abstract:

"ʻAʻohe nō hala o ka lā hoʻokahi i loaʻa ʻole ai ka wā ʻimi hoʻoponopono. Inā nō i loaʻa ke kanaka, e loaʻa ana nō ka ʻimi hoʻoponopono ʻana. No loko mai nō o ka ʻike kuʻuna a me ke aʻoaʻo ʻana mai a nā kūpuna i paʻa ai nā kiʻina e kōkua mai ai kākou ma ka wāwahi ʻana i nā pilikia a me ka hihia i waena o kānaka. Pehea kākou e hoʻohana ai i ia mau mākau a naʻauao o ka wā ma mua no ka pono o ke au e holo nei? Aia nō ke holo nei he kiʻina hoʻoponopono ma Ke Kula ʻO Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu, he kula M-12 ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi ma Keaʻau, ma Hawaiʻi Mokupuni. ʻO koʻu ʻiʻini, e ʻike paha ʻoukou i kekahi mea waiwai e hoʻohana ʻia ma ka hana a ma ka ʻohana paha, ʻoiai no loko mai nō o ka ʻohana Hawaiʻi ia ʻike a naʻauao no ka hoʻoponopono."
