Bollywood Mondays: 'No One Killed Jessica' (2011)
January 28, 3:30pm - 6:00pmManoa Campus, Marine Sciences Building 114
‘No One Killed Jessica’ is a hard-hitting Bollywood drama which is based on the real-life murder of a woman who was shot dead in New Delhi in 1999. The case prompted a public outcry about violence against women and widespread protests against the failure of the state to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The film touches on many issues of critical importance which have been part of ongoing conversations and soul searching in India today, especially in light of recent events in Delhi this winter. The film stars acclaimed actresses Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherji, the latter in a Filmfare Award-winning role.
This is the opening movie in the twelfth UH Bollywood film series, running on occasional Mondays this spring. For a copy of the full semester film series schedule, please see the contact information below.
