16th Annual Ko‘olau Writing Workshops

Eric Paul Shaffer, Assistant Professor at Honolulu Community College, will be the guest speaker at the Sixteenth Annual Ko‘olau Writing Workshop on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Shaffer’s presentation will begin at 9:30 AM in the Cooke Academic Center on Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Hawai‘i Loa Campus.

Shaffer is author of five books and three chapbooks of poetry, a novel, and two chapbooks of fiction, and he is the recipient of a number of Hawai‘i literary awards: the 2002 Elliot Cades Award for Literature, a 2006 Ka Palapala Po‘okela Book Award, HPU’s 2009 James M. Vaughan Award for Poetry, and first place in the 2010 Lorin Tarr Gill Poetry Competition.

Two sessions of the Ko‘olau Writing Workshops are available for each attendee, one beginning at 11:00 AM and the second at 1:30 PM. Writers can choose from poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and scriptwriting. The fee for attendees is $20, and $10 for students. A breakfast and free soft drinks at lunchtime are provided.
