“Shark Tech: Tracking Hidden Hunters of the Deep”

Abstract: The ocean is a concealing environment, hiding the daily lives of its inhabitants from our view. For us to learn about the natural behaviors of secretive marine animals, we need a way to unveil what is happening beneath the surface and beyond our sight. Recent decades have seen the development of a variety of sophisticated, electronic devices that can be attached to sharks and other marine animals to observe different aspects of their daily lives, and provide biologists with new insights into their behavior. Join us to find out how HIMB scientists use technology to study sharks, and what they have discovered.
