2nd Annual Hawai'i Sustainability in Higher Education Summit
March 13, 2014 - March 15, 2014Windward Campus, 45-720 Keaahala Rd, Kaneohe
The University of Hawai‘i System is working with other higher education colleagues and the community to promote sustainability in higher education and our communities across the state.
Sustainability is critical in decision-making and planning for our state and our educational institutions. Over the past year, a “Sustainability Strategy†has been developed by student leaders, faculty, and staff of the University of Hawai‘i. This led to the January 2014 decision by the UH Board of Regents to amend the mission statement of the University to include a commitment to sustainability.
To build upon this commitment, the 2nd Annual Hawai‘i Sustainability in Higher Education Summit will engage participants in four tracks including Policy and Planning, Program Sharing (Curriculum, Operations, Green Workforce Development & Sustainable Businesses), Skill Building and Service Projects, and Student Leadership. Student members of the newly launched statewide Student Sustainability Coalition of Hawai‘i will organize a Student Forum to share experiences of their efforts in working towards a more sustainable campuses and to organize around cross-campus sustainability projects.
Registration for the event is now open and all are encouraged to attend and engage with participants:
Join on Thursday, March 13, 5:00pm-8:00pm for networking reception and poster session, sustainability in higher education awards ceremony, keynote and dinner
