Women Navigating the Pacific: The Diaspora of Pacific Islanders and Vulnerabilities of Marginalized Populations to Human Trafficking and Other Forms of Violence - In this session, Ms. Tiapula will introduce strategies developed by Pacific women's coalitions for addressing the needs and vulnerabilities of marginalized populations within the Pacific. This presenter will focus on the isolation and marginalization of islander communities with strategies outlined for creating regional support networks. After introducing several nascent coalitions currently developing in the Pacific, the presenter will explore the rationale for regional responses and outline strategies for building regional and international support networks. Examples of other international collaborations will be presented to highlight alternate strategies for building healthier, safer communities in an increasingly global world.
