My Love, Don’t Cross That River

October 11, 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Center for Korean Studies

The Center for Korean Studies fall film series presents a showing of My Love, Don’t Cross That River (님아 그 강을 건너지 마오), a 2016 release directed by Jin Moyoung. The fall film series is offering filmic portrayals of the elderly in South Korea. My Love, Don't Cross That River centers on a couple that has been married for seventy-six years. Wherever they go, they dress in matching traditional Korean hanbok outfits and hold hands, behaving as though there were newlyweds. Eventually the husband grows weaker and weaker. His wife senses that she will soon be alone and prepares a farewell. Center for Korean Studies screenings are free and open to all. Korean films are shown with English subtitles.
