Remembering Her Majesty: A performance benefitting Native Hawaiian scholarship

Hawaii's beloved Queen Liliʻuokalani passed from this earth on November 11, 1917. Yet her life, her reign and her creative genius remain powerful symbols and lessons for our lāhui today. In recognition of this centennial, Hawai‘inuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge is hosting Hoʻohāliʻaliʻa: Remembering Her Majesty, a special performance of mele, hula and haʻi ʻōlelo at Kennedy theatre on Saturday October 7, 2017.

All proceeds from this event will go to scholarships for Native Hawaiian students at the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa.

The following artists and hālau have joined together for this occasion: Manu Boyd and Hālau o ke ‘A‘aliʻi Kū Makani; Nola Nahulu, the Honolulu Youth Opera Chorus and the Hawaiʻi Opera Chorus; Hālau ka Lā ʻŌnohi Mai o Haʻehaʻe; and Vicky Holt Takamine and Hālau Pua Aliʻi ʻIlima.

General admission is $50. VIP seating is $120, and includes a hosted reception at 5:30pm, a keepsake program, and preferred seating.

Doors open at 6:30. Performances begin at 7:00 pm.
