Housing Informational Fair

The University of Hawai‘i Faculty Housing Assistance Program, UH Office of Land Development, and Hawai‘i HomeOwnership Center would like to invite faculty and staff to participate in our inaugural Housing Informational Fair. The fair will take place on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the UHM Campus Center Ballroom (located at 2465 Campus Road, Honolulu, Hawai‘i 96822).
The purpose of this event is to assist University of Hawai‘i faculty and staff with exploring options in the O‘ahu housing market. The fair will give attendees an opportunity to talk with lenders, real estate agents, nonprofits, and rental agencies.
In addition, we will be holding breakout sessions covering various topics of interest:
2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
Affordable Homeownership Panel (Campus Center 307) Panelists will discuss the affordable housing programs available from the City & County, and State of Hawai‘i. Who qualifies? What is available? You may be surprised.
Home Buying Basics (Campus Center 308) This breakout session will look at the role of a real estate professional and the process of buying a single family home or condo.
3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Mortgage Basics (Campus Center 307) Panelists will discuss the lending process, the types of mortgages that are available, and tips on qualifying for a mortgage.
ABCs of Homeownership (Campus Center 308) Hawai‘i HomeOwnership Center provides education, information, and support to create successful first-time homeowners. This homeownership workshop will dispel myths of buying a home and share how this nonprofit’s program can put you on track to homeownership.
4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. Buyer Assistance Programs (Campus Center 307) Are you interested in buying your first home? This breakout session covers several loan programs that can assist you in making this goal a reality.
Rental Housing Workshop (Campus Center 308) An overview of the current rental market including tips for prospective and current renters.
