Mānoa Campus, Lyon Arboretum, 3860 Manoa Road, Honolulu, HI 96822

Do you love plants and people? Enjoy hiking in Mānoa’s beautiful rainforest? Want to learn more about our plant collections, trails and history? Help us celebrate 100 years as an Arboretum by becoming a volunteer docent guide.  Sharing in the spirit of aloha is what our wonderful docent guides program is all about. In this three part training course you will learn how to be an effective interpreter of our collections for the general public. Ornamental plants, trees of interest, ethnobotanical uses, plant taxonomy, and Hawaiian history are some of the topics that will be covered. (Two advanced classes will be held for those who wish to lead our Deep Forest tours into the less-traveled areas of Lyon Arboretum).

Instructor:  Richard I Sears, Lyon Arboretum Staff
