Narratives by Holocaust Escapees: Ferrara, Ital
April 18, 12:30pm - 1:45pmMānoa Campus, Sakamaki Hall A201
Prof Luciano Minerbi explores the narratives of escapees from the Holocaust, including himself. Philosophers such as Croce,Augustine, and Bergson help to understand these writings. But this is only a sequel to a centuries' old history of a small, self-managing Jewish community that included the Minerbi Family. They lived under the vagaries of edicts by dukes and Popes. Now the entire city is a virtual but walkable museum enshrining these searchable records. Perhaps it is able to reproduce culture for a modern civil society? Dr. Luciano Minerbi is Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at U H Manoa. The talk is free and open to the public. Please join us.
