Jamaican Oxtail Stew, Jerk Chicken, and Rice and Peas Cooking Demonstration

November 9, 9:30am - 12:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Lyon Arboretum (3860 Manoa Rd)

Like Hawai'i, the island of Jamaica loves its oxtail stew. Thyme, allspice, ginger, scotch bonnet peppers, and soy sauce give a much-needed Jamaican-ness to this otherwise bland British dish. Along with learning to cook this delightful Caribbean stew, we will make our own jerk spice blend and grill some jerk chicken, served with coconut scented rice and peas.

This session is an interactive cooking demo with recipes and food talk. Sharpen those dull knives and let's chop-chop! If you desire, bring your beverage of choice.

Lyon Arboretum is a Blue Zones Project Participating Organization! The Blue Zones Project is an initiative to promote healthy lifestyles. Join us to downshift and connect with the community at Lyon!
