Public Talk: Citizen Science and Politics of Environmental Knowledge

Dr. Aya H. Kimura, a professor of sociology, will give a public lecture on her recently released book, Science by the People: Participation, Power and the Politics of Environmental Knowledge , from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, January 24, in Saunders 244. The talk will explore the question, "How can citizen science -- research by people who are not professional scientists -- advance goals of environmental justice and social transformation?"

Dr. Kimura is also the author of Radiation Brain Moms and Citizen Scientists: Gender Politics of Food Contamination after Fukushima, which won the 2019 Rachel Carson Book Award.
