Its fanbase has engaged with Bergara and Madej in a multitude of ways, including Q+A sessions and real-person fiction (RPF), picking up on the ways that the hosts play with identity. This talk will discuss RPF as a digital queer text and explore the ethical complexity of identity play and participatory identity formation. / Zoë E. Sprott is a writer and academic at the University of Hawaiʻi, Mānoa. She is currently working towards a Master’s degree in English with a concentration in literary studies. Her interests include contemporary literature, popular/digital literature, and queer theory. Zoë is also the Reviews Editor and Editorial Assistant at the Center for Biographical Research. The article on which this talk is based will be published this year in The Journal of Popular Culture.
