Involvement with SVFA is for you if you're interested in producing video and filmmaking projects including the weekly UH Magazine on public access television.

  • creating a show that attracts viewers week after week
  • developing a production portfolio that will get you a job
  • hiring and supervising staff
  • budgeting and completing the paperwork necessary to get the equipment SVFA needs
  • attending national conventions to learn the latest about broadcast and film
  • running meetings
  • understanding the equipment necessary to run a television station/production studio
  • knowing federal rules about broadcasting
  • learning about people
  • meeting celebrities
  • learning industry standard production techniques and equipment
  • honing interpersonal skills
  • scheduling and planning
  • writing
  • storyboarding (previsualization)
