How to Form an RIO

If you and 5 other UHM students, faculty, and staff with similar interests and goals would like to form an RIO in order to share information, lend support, and provide involvement opportunities for members of the University community, here is what you need to do:

RIO RENEWAL Applications

• If you are already an established RIO, and wish to update your status for the upcoming year, please fill out the RIO Renewal Application AY 09-10 AND RIO Agreement and submit it to CC208.

NEW RIO Applications

• Print out and complete:
  2009-2010 Registered Independent Organizations (RIO) Application for Registration*
  (Download Adobe Acrobat Reader free if you do not have the latest version installed.)

When to form an RIO

Most organizations start up at the beginning of the fall semester, so they can be active for the full academic year. However, CAPS does accept registrations throughout the year.

Note that an RIO's registration expires annually on September 30. Consequently, your organization will need to re-register your RIO each year, preferably before the expiration date, by submitting a new application for registration to the CAPS office, CC 208.
