UH Manoa College of Education Dean Randy Hitz elected to AACTE Board of Directors

HONOLULU — Dean Randy Hitz of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa College of Education has been elected to serve on the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education‘s (AACTE) Board of Directors. His three-year term will run from 2005 through 2008.

Hitz has 30 years of experience in the field of education with primary emphasis on early childhood education and teacher education. He has served as the dean of the UH Mānoa College of Education since May 1998. Prior to joining the university, he served as dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Development at Montana State University—Bozeman.

The AACTE is a voluntary association of colleges and universities with undergraduate or graduate programs to prepare professional educators. Its mission is to promote the learning of all Pre K-12 students through the promotion of high quality preparation and continuing education for all school personnel.

Membership in AACTE is institutional or organizational, spanning small liberal arts colleges, state universities, and large research institutions. Affiliate members include state agencies, regional laboratories, community colleges, and other educational entities. The more than 780 member institutions are located in each of the nation‘s states and territories, the District of Columbia and Canada.
