HONOLULU — Dr. Jerry Tennant of the sEnergy Medical Group in Irving, Texas, is the featured speaker for a public lecture on the scientific basis of Energetic Medicine entitled "Tapping the Body‘s Healing Potential: ʻResponsible, Responsive, Relaxed, Refreshed, Revitalized‘." The lecture is scheduled for Thursday, August 25, at 7 p.m. at the East-West Center‘s Hawaiʻi Imin International Conference Center, Keoni Auditorium.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Registration is required and can be done by calling 1-866-514-8221.

Tennant is director of the Tennant Institute for Integrative Medicine and the creator of the Tennant Biomodulator, a biofeedback device that uses SCENAR technology. SCENAR, or Self-Controlled Energy Neuro Adaptive Regulator, was developed by Russian inventors for the Russian space program. The energetic medicine device was created and filled the requirements of being effective for acute and chronic illness and being small enough to fit easily in to the space capsules.

The SCENAR technology therapy has been widely used in Russian hospitals since the early 1980s, and was introduced in the United States by Tennant nearly five years ago and accepted for use as a biofeedback device in 2002 by the Food and Drug Administration. Tennant travels around the world lecturing about energy medicine and holds numerous training seminars on the therapy treatment used in relaxation training and treatment of muscle aches and pains.

Described as a combination of acupuncture with modern electronics, the therapy has been used recently in Hawaiʻi to relieve pain in numerous patients suffering from eye pain and macular degeneration, shingles, sciatica, back problems, surgical and wound pain, and a variety of other problems. Powered by a nine-volt battery, the device used is about the size of a TV remote control and emits electrical impulses that trigger the body to heal itself by sending pain-relieving and healing electrical signals and chemicals, such as endorphins, back to the area that is inflamed or hurting.

In addition to the public lecture, Tennant will be conducting an education workshop on the use of the Tennant Biomodulator on Friday and Saturday, August 26 and 27.
