On Saturday, January 12, 2013, UHM Tea Instructor Ogawa and his students prepared the first tea of the New Year at Jaku’an. Guests including long-time practitioners of Chadō in Hawai’i, enjoyed O-seichi Ryōri, or New Year’s delicacies. Classes about tea at UHM include Chadō, The Way of Tea Practicum (ASAN 324) and Tea in Japanese History & Culture (HIST 323). The UH Center for Japanese Studies is the home of the Dr. Sōshitsu Sen International Way of Tea Center.
