Academy Art Center at Linekona, Honolulu Academy of Arts (1/15-2/15/2011)

Monday through Sunday from 8 am to 9 pm

The exhibit focuses on textile dyeing, introducing the stages from chemical dyeing, to natural dyeing, and then to Taiyō-zome or sun dyeing by comparing each of the processes and introducing the fundamental concept of creating and dyeing fabric with zero waste.  Visitors will see the evolution of the artist’s dyeing technique and have the opportunity to feel how compatible sun dyeing is with human existence.

University of Hawai`i at Mānoa’s Commons Gallery, Art Building (1/17-1/27/2011)

Monday through Friday 10:30 am to 4 pm, Sunday 12 noon to 4 pm

Weaving, braiding, netting, and entwining comprise the main theme for this exhibit.  It features the artist’s technical changes from weaving back to braiding and netting.  One of the distinguishing characteristics is the works are created without wasting materials.  Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the various techniques.
