SUMMER PROGRAMS

Below is a list of summer Japanese language programs, most of which are based in Japan and generally require previous formal language training for acceptance. These summer intensive language programs are not UHM programs. Students must apply directly to the programs. Students will not earn UHM Japanese language credits and will not qualify for UHM financial aid (i.e., guaranteed student loans) unless they have their programs approved through the Study Abroad Office (Moore 115) as Independent, Self-designed Study Abroad Programs. For year-long programs, please see the exchange and language programs on the Study in Japan page. The University of Hawaii also has language courses throughout the year for all skill levels (see Courses page), and the UH Outreach College also runs language courses in the summer in its Summer Sessions program. Those looking for a program of study in Japanese language should consult the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures.

All deadlines and program periods listed are tentative, and may change. Please contact the appropriate program for exact dates for each year of application.
