Resources and services available to the doctoral students include (these links open in a new browser window):
- COEDSA (College of Education Doctoral Student Association) is an informal organization that supports the academic and professional development of the doctoral students within the College. Check the COEDSA web site for information on workshops, research links, and support services and resources for doctoral students.
- Child Care is available at the Children’s Center on the Manoa campus for two to five-year-old children of students, faculty, and staff. The facility offers full-and part-time care to approximately 90 children each semester. It is open 48 weeks of the year, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applications should be made well in advance of the semester child care services is needed. - Doctoral Student Room is a place for COE doctoral students to study, relax, and converse.
- Doctoral Student E-mail List Serve is a vital means of communication for doctoral students.
- Health Services are available through University Health Services Manoa, 1710 East-West Road, Tel: (808) 956-8965, which offers medical service and health education and promotion programs Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overnight and weekend services are not provided. For clinic hours, appointments, or information contact UHSM.
- Housing facilities range from traditional residence halls (coed, all female, and all male in double room occupancy or suite arrangements) to apartments (one-bedroom and two-bedroom). A limited number of disabled access and single occupancy units are available. Married students and their immediate families are incorporated into the general resident population. Acceptance to the University does not automatically include on-campus housing. Students are encouraged to apply for on-campus housing and should contact the Student Housing Services for information.
- KOKUA Program (Disability Accesss Services) provides academic access services to students with documented physical and/or mental disabilities (e.g., health disabilities, hearing impairments, learning disabilities, mobility restrictions, psychological disabilities, visual impairments). Students with disabilities who may require assistance are strongly encouraged to contact KOKUA as far in advance as possible to ensure better campus access. - Managing Your Program provides information and links on the doctoral process.
- Parking - visitiors and students pay a daily fee to park, on space available basis, in designated visitor and student parking areas. Other parking areas on campus require a valid permit. Motorcycles and mopeds must have a paid permit to park in designated parking areas. Contact Parking Operations Tel: (808) 956-8899, Fax: (808) 956-9811.
- Research Resources leads to growing list of information and links on the COEDSA web site as well as a databank of doctoral students who would like to work with faculty on research projects.
- Security provides protection and security for the campus community and the physical plant at the Manoa campus 24 hours a day throughout the year. Upon a reasonable request, officers will provide an escort service from dusk to dawn for students and staff members. Seventy-three red emergency call boxes with blue lights are located throughout the campus to provide instant communication with the Campus Security Office. - Student ID enables access to computer labs, library borrowing privileges, purchasing of computer hardware and academic software at the bookstores, and discounts on student activities. Tel: (808) 956-7235.
