About the University
Located in Honolulu’s beautiful Mānoa Valley, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is the major campus of the state’s ten-campus university system. A renowned center for research and advanced graduate and professional studies, UHM also offers excellence in its wide-ranging undergraduate programs. It is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The U.S. News and World Report college rankings for 1998 included it among the “Top 25 Public National Universities” in the United States.

About HAIS
The Hawai‘i Association of Independent Schools is a member-supported organization that advances the cause of education in the State of Hawai‘i, particularly those issues specific to private and independent schools. HAIS also accredits elementary and secondary schools in collaboration with the Accrediting Commission for Schools of theWestern Association of Schools and Colleges. HAIS is affiliated with the National Association of Independent Schools and participates in the management of the Hawai‘i Council of Private Schools.
Degree Benefits: Schools gain a professional with practical leadership training and the fruits of a field study project. Many private / independent schools base their salaries in part on the achievement of advanced degrees. Additionally, if you hold a State of Hawai‘i Department of Education basic teaching certificate, an M.Ed. in Educational Foundations qualifies you for professional certification. Many of the courses in the program apply to the Doctoral program in Educational Foundations.

Admission Eligibility: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited US college or university or its equivalent from a recognized foreign institution of higher learning. Complete eligibility information will be provided in the admission/registration packet.
Application/Registration Deadlines: Participants must apply by February 15th (of the year in which they plan to attend). Application instructions and forms will be provided in the admission/registration packet, available upon request. Upon acceptance into the program, participants must register by April 15th (of the year in which they plan to attend) in order to receive reading and other assignments prior to the first day of the in-residence phase of the program.
Housing: Dormitory-style housing can be arranged for any students coming to the program from off-island. Further information on housing will be provided in the admission / registration packet.
Meal Plan/Cooking Facilities: A meal plan is available through the University of Hawai‘i.
Books, Reading Materials, Course Schedules: Additional information will be furnished upon acceptance into the program.
