TTT Information page
The State Funded (Transition to Teaching) Financial Aid Program is designed to support recruitment of highly qualified mid-career professionals and recent college graduates as teachers in high-need schools through the use of alternative routes to certification. In October 2002, the College of Education (COE) at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa received the TTT grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The COE, in conjunction with the other three partners, will produce highly qualified mathematics and science secondary teachers since there is a shortage that is expected to remain through 2007. Begining in 2008, the Hawai'i State Legislature has approved funding that will continue through 2010.
The State Funded (Transition to Teaching) Financial Aid Program provides a stipend of $1,000.00 per semester for 3 semesters during enrollment in a teacher preparation program. In return, participants are obligated to teach in the HIDOE upon completion of the program.
The State Funded (Transition to Teaching) Financial Aid Program provides support for unlicensed teachers of Mathematics and Science. It also provides assistance for graduates of Bachelors degree outside of Education who choose a teaching career in Mathematics and Science. If interested, please contact: tttinfo@hawaii.edu
